Society For Change

Thank you for your interest in our Society For Change--a circle of supporters committing $1,000 or more annually to improve the lives of homeless families in Multnomah County. Please email Kristan Knapp if you are interested in building a legacy with Human Solutions by joining the Society For Change.

Society for Change Invitation

For three years we had a matching grant from the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund. This grant matched every $1,000 gift we received over the three year period, and we have created the Society for Change to recognize those able to give at this level. Mrs. Macdonald generously supported families in crisis for many years, but now the grant period is over and Mrs. Macdonald passed away in spring 2010. Human Solutions would like to honor her memory and generosity by asking all our donors who are able to consider joining our Society for Change before our fiscal year ends on June 30th.

If you are able to pledge $1,000 or more to be paid before June 30th or through the current calendar year, we would be deeply grateful and happy to include you in the Society for Change.

If you are able to make a gift of any size before June 30th, we would be most appreciative. A gift of $100 will house a homeless child and her family for a month. Here is why your gift is needed now:

  • The number of homeless families has grown with the recent recession—Human Solutions is now sheltering/housing over 190 homeless families (about 500 parents and children) every night;
  • Request for assistance of all kinds is up dramatically—Requests by homeless families for help getting back into housing, requests for rent assistance by families at serious risk of homelessness, requests for energy assistance and requests for employment assistance have all grown significantly.

Every contribution is important, please consider a gift that you can afford to help homeless and low-income families find pathways out of poverty…because all children and their parents deserve to be safe and to have a home. To give, click here.
