Need to use a computer?
Our office has a computer lab for public use and is equipped with a printer and internet access to make searches for housing and jobs easier and faster.

Employment

Peer Support Program
The Peer Support Program provides job training and placement assistance to low-income Eastern European Immigrants living in the City of Portland with a focus on career advancement, not temporary or entry level jobs.

This 3-year long program is offered to residents wanting to start a career. Our staff provides job preparedness workshops and works individually developing an income improvement plan for 3 years. To help you reach your goals, we offer ESL instruction, vocational training and tuition assistance.

Living Solutions

Do you live in Gresham? Would you like to increase your earning potential?
Living Solutions helps low-income Gresham residents gain the skills needed to obtain a career and a living wage. Services offered: comprehensive employment assessments, employment assistance, and assistance with vocational training costs

Safety Net Services

Rent Assistance

Due to the high number of requests and limited funds, our Rent/Mortgage Assistance is done by a random drawing. People can apply for rent assistance for the following month up to the last day of the current month. To enter the drawing the following criteria must be met:

You must reside in Multnomah County with a formal lease in the name of the person needing assistance for two or more months with no past due rent or fees;

Must not be living in subsidized housing;

Must be able to pay own rent after assistance (income must be greater than or equal to rent);

Must not be receiving rent assistance from any other program unless assistance is to complete full rent payment for same month.

Energy Assistance

Human Solutions runs one of the largest Energy Assistance Programs in Multnomah County. We assist with PGE, PPL, NW Natural Gas and other heat sources when funds are available. Human Solutions also works with the City of Portland/Rockwood Water Discount Program. For an eligibility screening you will need:

Current bill in your name
Picture ID for the person on the bill
Proof of income for the last 30 days for anyone 18 or older
Social Security Cards for everyone in the household

Daybreak Shelter for Homeless Families

The Daybreak Shelter Network is a unique collaboration between Human Solutions and 30 area churches and synagogues that provide donations and volunteer support. Host churches house homeless families over night, while the supporting churches assist by providing meals. The Daybreak Shelter Network has no religious component and doesn’t separate families based on gender. Single women with no children are also welcomed.

Housing for Homeless Families

Human Solutions offers help to homeless families with children under 18. Callers are screened for eligibility and placed on the waiting list, provided there is funding and the list is open. (Once on the waiting list, families need to check in weekly to stay on the list).
